"Emotional intelligence has emerged as a major topic of interest in psychological discourse in recent decades. It has become a common theme across disciplines, including business management, anger management, and leadership. Increasingly, theorists and practitioners have applied the understanding of emotional intelligence in educational settings. This qualitative study sought to expand the application of the Individual Zone of Optimal Function (IZOF) Survey Instrument to explore the role of emotionality among educational leader\u2019s vis-a-vis the performance of their administrative duties. The instrument was originally designed for the optimization of the performance of athletes in competitive sports. This study was designed to ascertain whether the instrument could effectively identify emotions that can be either advantageous or detrimental to the effective administration of educational leaders in school settings. Six educational leaders agreed to participate in this study and were asked to complete the IZOF instrument in as much detail as possible, describing their best ever and worst ever experiences as an administrator. After identifying the emotions that they experienced in these situations, they ascribed levels of intensity to the emotions experienced. Follow-up interviews were conducted to clarify questions that arose with regard to initial information provided. Findings indicated that there was a wide range of emotions demonstrated in best-ever and worst-ever experiences, with the greatest intensity levels in the best-ever experiences leaders."
