More specifically, this study examined the interaction effects between student ethnicity (African American and White), walking style (stroll and standard), and verbal response style (standard and slang), on education majors\u2019 ratings of student learning, behavior, the need for special education services, and positive or negative attributes. A questionnaire judging learning, behavior, the need for special education and an adapted version of the Adjective Checklist (Gough \u0026 Heilbrun, 1983) were used immediately after the participants watched a short video in which the independent variables were manipulated. One hundred and nine education majors attending a private university participated in this study. Results indicated that, overall, verbal expression was the most influential variable that affected participants\u2019 perceptions of students having behavioral problems, needing special education services, and having positive or negative attributes. Students who spoke standard English, rather than slang, were perceived as less likely to have behavior problems, less likely to need special education services, and less likely to be described by participants using negative attributes. No differences were found in the perception of students having learning problems in the different video conditions. Of those students who were perceived as needing special education services, the category selected most frequently was Emotional/Behavior Disorder (EBD)." ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Classification" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "LC3981.B75 2007" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Publication Date" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "2007" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Genre" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Academic theses" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Holding Location" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Barry University Archives and Special Collections" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Resource Identifier" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "LC3981.B75 2007_BrinsonAngela" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Language" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "English" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Permanent Link" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "http://sobekcmsrv.barrynet.barry.edu/AA00001394/00001" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Creator" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Brinson, Angela" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Note" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Thesis (Ph.D.)--Barry University, 2007.", "Includes bibliographical references (leaves 79-92)." ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Physical Description" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "vi, 99 leaves ; 28 cm" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Publisher" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Barry University" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Place of Publication" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Miami, Fla." ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Type" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Book" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Rights Management" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Copyright Angela Brinson.
