This study uses three of Bergman\u0027s films, The Seventh Seal, Wild Strawberries, and The Virgin Spring, as subjects of literary and character analysis in order to examine their religious ideas, and when necessary, provide counter-point. The first theological situation examined is the individual\u0027s search for God presented in Bergman\u0027s characters. Secondly, the problem of evil is considered as it relates to some of the circumstances presented in Bergman\u0027s films. Finally, the success of the characters in finding their own spiritual reconciliation is determined.
