It gives an overview of critical theory and how it can be applied to the capitalistic structure in the US. It examines how the structure of the capitalistic system was successful in the past and how factors such as corporate globalization and deregulation have altered this structure. Increases in income disparity and decreases in wages despite more productive workers and two-income households are used as evidence to demonstrate the problem. The areas of outsourcing, unbalanced corporate pay, and free trade are examined as the sources of the problem. Comparisons between Wal-Mart and Costco are made to show the positive or negative influence that a few business leaders can have. This study examined databases from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the United for a Fair Economy organization to provide a link between outsourcing, job gains and losses, and wages for the period of 1995-2004. Results indicated that there is a relationship between outsourcing, well-compensated manufacturing jobs being lost, and low-wage service jobs being gained. Both real wages for workers and CEO wages increased during this time period. CEO wages almost tripled as compared to average worker\u2019s wages.
