These FEP have requisite knowledge of pathophysiology, pharmacology, and physical examination skills. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the socialization process of FEP (transition to a nursing role) and to compare this process to socialization of other nurses who graduated from a diploma/associate degree program (DAN), baccalaureate of science in nursing program (BSN), and/or a master of science in nursing program (MSN). Theoretical Framework: Meleis\u2019s Experiencing Transitions theory, which addresses the multifaceted and dynamic issues involved in change resulting from adaptation to new roles and new locations, was used as a conceptual guide. Methods: A cross-sectional nonexperimental correlational design was used for the study. Data collected from the Demographic Questionnaire were analyzed for their effect on the dependent variable using multiple regression. The dependent variable is the level socialization to nursing as measured by The Stone\u2019s Health Care Professional Attitude Inventory as modified by Lawler for Nursing. The level of socialization to nursing of the four groups of nurses was compared by using analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results: The hypotheses could not be rejected. There were no significant differences between the groups. None of the selected demographic factors\u2014years of practice, age, and gender\u2014had a significant effect on socialization to nursing. Conclusions: Study findings suggested that the level of socialization to nursing of FEP (who are now nurses) is comparable to the level of socialization to nursing as other groups of nurses: DAN, BSN, and MSN." ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Classification" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "RT86.73.S56 2010" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Publication Date" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "2010" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Genre" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Academic theses" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Holding Location" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Barry University Archives and Special Collections" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Resource Identifier" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "RT86.73.S56 2010_SimonSharon" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Language" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "English" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Permanent Link" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "http://sobekcmsrv.barrynet.barry.edu/AA00001860/00001" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Creator" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Simon, Sharon Rose" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Note" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Thesis (Ph.D.)--Barry University, 2010.", "Includes bibliographical references (leaves 84-92)." ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Physical Description" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "xi, 112 leaves ; ill. ; 28 cm" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Publisher" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Barry University" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Place of Publication" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Miami, Fla." ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Type" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Book" ] } }, { "label": { "en": [ "Rights Management" ] }, "value": { "none": [ "Copyright Sharon Rose Simon.
