This body of work represents the achievement of many years spent striving to express herself through photography. The exhibit consists of 28 color photographic images, created in part by standard processing methods and in part by cross processing, a procedure where the photographic film is processed in a chemical solution intended for a different type of film. Four different techniques of image display were used: some photographs were traditionally printed on photographic paper and framed, some were printed directly onto aluminum, some were printed directly onto Plexiglas, and still another was displayed illuminated from behind, on a light box. While the images in these series portray spaces, streets, and rooms that are empty, the viewer is left with the feeling that each of these settings has been \u201Crecently deserted.\u201D The thesis includes traces of the influence that five photographers and one painter have had on the author\u2019s work; visual examples are provided. The select artists whose work the author felt most directly influenced are: Stephen Shore, William Eggleston, Cindy Sherman, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Sally Mann, and Edward Hopper. Following the depiction of these influences, comes the Processes/Technical Information section, which outlines the image sizes, materials, and presentation methods used. The Aesthetics/Philosophy section follows this, and details of the author\u2019s preferences in lighting, angles, and lenses.
