Barry College conferred its first honorary degree of Doctor of Laws upon Fr. Joseph Barry, of the Diocese of Killaloe, Ireland, and the first Laudare Medal was awarded to architect Gerald A. Barry and to John G. Thompson (in absentia) on the same occasion.
