520 3    |a The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of an information problem solving model on students‟ critical thinking skills. The model chosen for the study is named for the five steps it represents: Focus, Investigate, Note, Develop, and Score (F.I.N.D.S.). The study was conducted during the fall semester of 2007 and involved a convenience sample of students enrolled in a general psychology course at a community college. Quantitative data analysis indicated that there was no significant difference in the gain made in critical thinking skills of those students who used the F.I.N.D.S. model when compared to those students who did not use F.I.N.D.S. Data analyses also indicated that there was not a significant relationship between gains in critical thinking and student grade point averages. Recommendations for further study and opportunities for professional development are discussed.
