|a In order to provide students with disabilities with adequate services, school professionals work collaboratively to make important decisions regarding their education. In this study, 100 teachers from the Miami Dade County school district were recruited to complete the Teacher’s Sense of Efficacy Scale (OSTES), the Social Support Questionnaire and a general information questionnaire. A total of 52 teachers participated in the study. It was hypothesized that perceived support was associated with teachers’ self efficacy and referral practices. Results indicate that the hypotheses were partially supported. Self-efficacy was correlated with perceived availability and use of social support. Furthermore, perceived contribution to team decisions was correlated with seriousness of problem behavior before consultation. Decrease in frequency of consultation was associated with increased prevention. Future directions for research and practices in consultation were discussed. |
