520 3    |a The ministerial concern that motivated my thesis project was the relevancy of the renewed Hispanic Ministry Pastoral Plan of the Archdiocese of Mobile, Alabama (20142016) to the Catholic mission community of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe in Clio, Alabama. (2018) There is much concern and work making Pastoral Plans: consultation desde la base, processes of decision making until plans are proclaimed by leaders and filed away in some office director’s cabinet. The plan is many times the end and not really what marks a new praxis. The project raised the theological issues of Pastoral accompaniment and United States Hispanic ecclesiology. The theology of acompañamiento requires involvement and participation in the processes of building the Church through dialogue and mutual respect. In our U.S. context it calls for an incarnated ecclesiology that arises within the reality of Hispanic communities as they struggle to understand their cultural identity, faith, and call to witness the gospel. The primary theological discipline I used was Hispanic/Latino systematic theology. The project unfolded in the company of wonderful theologians and pastoralists such as Padre Mario Vizcaíno, Sch.P, Timothy Matovina, Roberto Goizueta, Ken Johnson-Mondragón, Jeanette Rodríguez amongst others. They have illuminated with their perception and intuitions the meaning of Hispanic Ministry, the development of leadership among Hispanic Catholics in the United States of America, what accompaniment is and the importance of being people with a memoria histórica who value content, principles and criteria hidden under the historical facts through generations. I researched this issue from the theological perspective of U.S Hispanic/Latino practical methodology of “See, Judge, Act, Evaluate and Celebrate.” The outcome of my research empowered local leaders through the process of seeing their reality objectively, analyzing it and making decisions for new praxis. This project resulted in a greater commitment towards those I share ministry with. Pastoral Planning is not meant to rigidly stay on paper, but to organically help us measure our steps patiently or urge us forward as needed, golpe a golpe, verso a verso.
