- Abstract:
- This thesis project investigates how to help families coming to register in the parish of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, in the Diocese of Palm Beach, become active members of the parish community by increasing their feeling of welcome. Using Richard Osmer’s methodology of doing Pastoral theology it explores the connection between what people actually look for when they register in a parish, and what an Evangelization program, based on active participation should look like. The connection between the ecclesiology of communion and participation of Vatican Council II and the New Evangelization serves as the framework to create a Plan for New Evangelization for the Parish of St. Patrick, as well as a Job Description for the Director of Evangelization for the parish. Both the plan and the job description will help give continuity to the efforts of the staff and parishioners to be active participants in the evangelization of the parish community for the twenty-first century.
