Abstract:
There is no doubt, women have played a small role in the Church of the past. They had a prominent role in the New Testament Church but from the post-Aposto1ic Church until now, that role has been eliminated and an ideology has been put forward to justify this exclusion. Many people react to the question of women priests in a negative way, but they cannot give very good reasons for this reaction. It is not enough to say, there never have been women priests so it can never happen. The question really is, are men and women equal, or are they only equal up to the point of candidacy for ordination.
