Notes

Abstract:
Purpose: This study explored the relationship between transfo1mational leadership and organizational change readiness to examine if a significant correlation existed. The underlying framework for the study was based on Kurt Lewin's Planned Change Model. The study primarily focused on the first phase, unfreezing, of the Planned Change Model and the leadership traits, characteristics and behaviors of traditional leadership theories as well as those of transformational leaders. Method: The study employed correlational research design using the Pearson's Product Moment Correlation statistical test. The variable, transformational leadership, was assessed using Sashkins' (2004) Leadership Profile. The organization's readiness for change was measured using Holt's Organizational Change Readiness Scale. A possible 121 candidates were canvassed for participation. The sample (n=32) for the study was taken from a two-year community college transitioning to a four-year college. Major Findings: The finding for the study indicated a significant correlation did not exist between the three constructs on The Leadership Profile and the Organizational Change Readiness Scale. Significant correlations did exist between transactional leadership behavior and transformational leadership behavior and characteristics.
