|a This thesis describes the author’s journey as a Master of Fine Art in Photography student at Barry University. She begins with her upbringing with dogs and the growth of her interest in photography throughout life. She examines her position as a teacher and as an image maker of traditional commercial photography, based on subjects with mass appeal. This is followed by her passage of self-discovery and artistic growth. Influences, both by artists and personal emotional experiences, are examined as she evolved from the practice of commercial photography and consumerism to that of an expressive artist. Culminating in a highly personal and creative body of work, her MFA exhibition and written thesis focus on my most enduring and beloved companions -- my dogs. |
