|a Cheating within institutions of higher education is a major problem with prevalence rates as high as 94%. Additionally, the majority of college students who admit to cheating also report negative attitudes towards cheating. Cava (2000) attempted to explain this belief-behavior discrepancy using Bandura’s theory of moral disengagement and identified eight significant predictors of academic cheating and/or moral disengagement among a population of junior high students. The purpose of the proposed study is to replicate and expand on the research of Cava (2000) using an undergraduate student population. |
