|a This senior honors thesis explored the necessary leadership qualities for an effective undergraduate student leader. Five leadership theories were analyzed, including the great man theory, the trait theory, the transformational and transactional leadership theories, the situational leadership theory, and the path-goal theory. Data was collected using the Leader Behavior Description Questionnaire. Two hypotheses were analyzed using the independent sample t-test. It was found that an individual’s leadership effectiveness score is directly related to the number of leadership positions held and the type of organization that the individual is a member. |
